OVERLAND PARK, KS - DePaul senior forward Keisha Hampton was one of 30 NCAA® women's basketball student-athletes who were named a candidate for the 2011-12 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Hampton, who was named unanimous preseason All-BIG EAST Conference selection, enters her senior season with 1,375 points, 513 rebounds and 201 assists. As a member of DePaul's Captains' Council, Hampton has helped with Misericordia Candy Days, Vincent DePaul Feed the Homeless Sandwich Drive, worked in the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen and participated in numerous food and clothing drives. The Philadelphia native is a communications major, hopes to pursue a career in broadcasting when her playing career is complete.
Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the women's award winner will be announced during the NCAA Women's Final Four®, which will be held April 1 and 3 in Denver.
The 30 women's candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot.
