#34 DePaul Overpowers Georgetown on the Road

ARLINGTON, Va. - The No. 34 DePaul women's tennis team picked up its second BIG EAST Conference win with a 5-1 victory over Georgetown on Friday at the Army Navy Country Club. The Blue Demons have won their last two matches and improve to 4-3 on the season while Georgetown falls to 2-5 and slide to 0-2 in conference duals.
"I am always pleased to get a BIG EAST victory," DePaul head coach Mark Ardizzone said following his team's victory.
Christiana Raymond put the Blue Demons on the board with her first career straight-set shutout victory. The freshman topped Alex Sebia on the fourth court for her 15th singles win of the season.
Gia McKnight followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Tina Thrani in the third position, before Kelsey Lawson gave DePaul a 3-0 lead with her victory on the fifth court.
Georgetown's point came on the second court before Blue Demon junior Cali Gustafson clinched DePaul's win with a three-set win over Samantha Martin in the sixth position.
Senior Katarina Milinkovic won her fourth consecutive and 85th career singles match with her 6-3. 4-6, 6-3 win over Stephanie Wetmore in the top position.
Thinking ahead, Ardizzone added "We have to stay focused because we have two more tough matches tomorrow."
The Blue Demons travel to Annapolis, Maryland for duals with Drexel and Navy on Saturday. Action begins at 1 p.m. at the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex.
