DePaul Sweeps Dayton, Stays Perfect on Home Courts

CHICAGO - The No. 52 DePaul women's tennis team completed its doubleheader sweep with a 7-0 victory over Dayton on Saturday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. With the win, the Blue Demons improve to 6-0 on their home courts and are 10-6 on the season.
DePaul defeated Butler, 6-1 earlier in the day.
"I am very pleased that we won two matches at home today," head coach Mark Ardizzone said.
"I thought we really played well in the second match."
DePaul dominated the match and dropped just 20 sets in nine total matches. In doubles, Christiana Raymond and Cali Gustafson were the first off the courts as they shutout Kelly O'Connell and Claire McNuttey on the third court.
The No. 65 pair of Katarina Milinkovic and Gia McKnight improved to 7-4 in the top spot when they overpowered Claire Dreyer and Maureen Stevens 8-1. Kelsey Lawson and Selma Salkovic completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win over Loni Dickerhoff and Laina Grote.
DePaul's domination continued into singles as all six courts finished in two sets.
Raymond tallied her second shutout of the match with her win over Stevens on the fourth court.
Both McKnight and Lawson overpowered their opponents as they each surrendered just one set. McKnight moved to 16-14 on the season, while Lawson improved to 20-13.
Milinkovic and Gustafson each recorded their second win of the day on their respective courts.
Samantha Kaneta rounded out the day with a 6-4, 6-0 win on the sixth court. The win was the fifth of the year for the freshman.
With the match in books, Aridzzone looked ahead at his team's schedule "Today's wins are a good way to start to a long break, we don't play again for 19 days"
"The second half of the season doesn't get any easier so we need to keep working on getting better."
The Blue Demons hit the road for a March 23 clash with Arizona State before returning to the corner of Lakewood and Fullerton for a dual with Long Beach State.
