Quiett Runs Best

EUGENE, Ore. - The DePaul men's and women's track and field teams competed at the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary in Eugene, Ore. Mary Cate Quiett ran a season-best time to move forward to the NCAA Championships.
In the most important race of the season, Quiett ran a season best-time in the 800m run. Her time of 2:06.175 put her into ninth place just edging out, Bethany Praska of Iowa, by three one-hundredths of second. At the 2011 BIG EAST Conference Championship, Quiett finished in third place in the 800m run.
Also representing the women's team, Melissa Fraser competed in the women's hammer throw and finished in 32nd with a distance of 53.72m. Earlier this season, Fraser threw a DePaul record of 56.82m at the Sun Angel Track Classic.
On the men's side, Matthew Graham competed in the 3,000m steeplechase. Graham finished the race in 19th place with a time of 9:00.88. At last year's NCAA West Preliminary, Graham finished in 20th.
The Blue Demons finish competition at the NCAA West Preliminary tomorrow, when Tim Nedow competes in the men's discus.
