Nedow Places 12th at World University Games

Shezhen, China - DePaul student-athlete Tim Nedow placed 12th in the shot put event today at the 26th World University Games where he represented the Canadian athletics squad. Nedow, the reigning BIG EAST champion in both indoor and outdoor shot put, was the youngest contender in the final round.
The Brockville, Ontario native who qualified for the World University Games after a second place finish at the Canadian Senior Championships in June, registered throws of 17.15 and 17.92 meters in the opening stage. His 17.92 meter throw secured the last remaining spot in the final round.
Nedow, the youngest competitor to advance to the finals, opened the medal round with a throw of 17.99 meters. The second-team All-American and USTFCCCA All-Academic Team member followed with an 18.13 meter throw, earning him a 12th place finish in the World University Games event.
Jamaica's O'Dayne Richards won the gold medal in the event with a personal-best throw of 19.93 meters. Soslan Tsyrikhov of Russia took home the silver medal with a 19.80 meter throw and the United States' Mason Finley followed with a bronze-winning throw of 19.72 meters.
