Severe Weather Cancels DePaul's Match at USF

TAMPA, Fla. - Lightning and thunderstorms forced a cancellation of DePaul's BIG EAST Conference match against USF on Sunday.
The match will be played at 10 a.m. on Monday with the score 0-0.
USF was leading 2-0 when the first lightning strike at 12:45 p.m. resulted in a 30-minute delay. It halted play in the 39th minute.
Each subsequent lightning strike called for another 30-minute delay. After a total delay of 2 hours and 30 minutes, the game was called.
Goals by Chelsea Klotz in the 15th minute and Noelle Pineiro in the 39th minute had put the Blue Demons in a 2-0 deficit.
DePaul opens a two-game home stand on Friday with a 3 p.m. BIG EAST match against Providence. Two days later, the Blue Demons face BIG EAST opponent Connecticut in a 1 p.m. showdown.
NOTES: Pyrz made her second consecutive start at goalkeeper for DePaul... the Blue Demons had played four consecutive overtime games going into the match with USF... Ashleigh Goddard, Morgan Celaya and Amber Paul lead the Blue Demons with two goals each... Michelle Scandora, Rebekah Roller and Sarah Gorden each have one goal... Roller is tops in assists with two while Celaya, Paul, Kelly Blumberg, Goddard and Beth Perry each have one... Goddard, Celaya and Paul lead in points with five while Roller has four points... Scandora and Gorden each have two points while Blumberg and Perry have one apiece... Celaya has 13 shots on goal... Scandora and Paul each have eight shots on goal.
