CHICAGO - DePaul has enhanced its softball staff with Samantha Findlay being named assistant coach and Jackie Tarulli-Fisher being appointed Director of Softball Operations.
Findlay was the Blue Demons' Director of Softball Operations last spring after serving two seasons as volunteer assistant coach.
An All-American first baseman at Michigan, Findlay hit the game-winning, three-run home run in 2005 in leading the Wolverines to their first NCAA Championship softball title. She was named the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Findlay graduated from Michigan as the career leader in home runs (62), RBIs (219) and walks (157).
Over the summer, she completed her fourth season playing in the National Pro Fastpitch league with the USSSA Pride in Orlando, Fla.
"It's going to be great having Samantha's extensive knowledge of hitting at practice every day," said DePaul coach Eugene Lenti. "As an All-American collegiate player and one of the best hitters in pro softball, she will be working with our hitters on a daily basis.
"Having Sam work with our hitters, we are going to be a more explosive team offensively. She brings a significant knowledge of the game as well as experience hitting against the best pitchers in the country and the world."
Tarulli-Fisher starred for the Blue Demons from 2006-09 and was named All-Great Lakes Region First Team in 2009.
She also earned All-BIG EAST Conference Third Team honors in 2009 and was selected for the BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament Team in 2008 and 2009.
Tarulli-Fisher is second all-time at DePaul in career home runs with 34 and tied for fourth in career RBIs with 149. She worked in the Development office of the DePaul Athletics Department last year.
"It's great to have Jackie back in the program after being such an outstanding player for us," Lenti said. "She was one of the smartest players we ever had, and I know she will do a terrific job for us as Director of Softball Operations."
