CHICAGO - The DePaul Blue Demons will have their collective fingers crossed on Sunday night as they await their postseason softball fate.
They will be watching closely as the 2012 NCAA Division I Softball Championship Selection Show at 9 p.m. on ESPNU announces the field for the NCAA tournament.
The players and coaches are hoping to make their 17th NCAA appearance in program history and the 15th in the last 16 years.
Last season, DePaul advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals and was among the final 20 teams in the NCAA field.
Their credentials for an NCAA Championship bid include a 35-20 record and an NCAA RPI of 28.
They have five victories over teams ranked in the nation's Top 25. Three of their losses have come to No. 1 California by a 2-0 score and to then-No. 1 Alabama (4-3, 9-7).
Kirsten Verdun and Lynsey Ciezki were named to the BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament Team on Saturday night.
It was the second year in a row Ciezki has been honored on the all-tournament team and the first time for Verdun.
No. 9/8 Louisville (53-3) won the BIG EAST Championship Saturday night with a 4-3 victory over host Notre Dame as Jordan Trimble hit a walk-off home run leading off the bottom of the eighth inning.
