CHICAGO - For the first time in his career, senior throws standout Tim Nedow has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country First Team for District 5, as announced on Thursday. With the first team designation, Nedow is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
The Brockville, Ontario native sports a 3.57 grade-point average as a senior. Majoring in Computer Games Development, Nedow has excelled both in the classroom and in competition.
The senior was named Most Outstanding Field Performer at both the indoor and outdoor BIG EAST Conference Championships this season while earning a bid to the NCAA West Preliminaries to compete in both shot put and discus. Earlier this season, Nedow competed at the prestigious Drake Relays where he garnered first in both the shot put and discus events.
Nedow, who currently holds the DePaul record in both of those events, also set a new DePaul record in the indoor shot put this season when he launched a mammoth 20.51-meter throw at the BIG EAST Championships. His performance at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships earned him second-team USTFCCCA All-American honors.
While he had previously been named to both the 2010 and 2011 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track and Field teams, this is Nedow's first Capitol One Academic All-District recognition.
