DePaul Track and Field Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

CHICAGO - The DePaul track and field team was named an All-Academic Team in both women’s and men’s track by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
The women’s team compiled a 3.38 team grade-point average while the men’s team posted a 3.12 team GPA.
A total of 187 Division I All-Academic Women’s Track & Field teams earned the distinction as a result of posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Arkansas and UCF women’s track & field teams earned Scholar Team of the Year honors for the 2013 Division I indoor and outdoor track & field seasons, respectively.
Wofford was the top women’s team in Division I with a cumulative team mark of 3.61. North Dakota finished second at 3.599 followed closely by in-state rival North Dakota State and Oregon State at 3.58.
The Atlantic 10 was the best-represented conference with 12 women’s teams earning All-Academic Team accolades. The BIG EAST was right behind with 11 teams on the list.
On the men’s side, a total of 111 institutions earned the distinction. The Florida men’s track & field program earned Scholar Team of the Year honors for both the 2013 Division I indoor and outdoor track & field seasons for the second year in a row.
Arizona was the top team in Division I with a cumulative team mark of 3.511 and was led by indoor and outdoor track Scholar Athlete of the Year Lawi Lalang.
Santa Clara posted the second-best cumulative team GPA at 3.506, just barely ahead of Chattanooga at 3.505.
The Atlantic 10 was the best-represented conference with eight men’s teams earning All-Academic Team nods. The BIG EAST and Ivy League both added seven teams to the list.
Division I men’s and women’s track and field programs combined academic and athletic achievement to earn All-Academic Team honors.
