FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Just one day after senior Matt Babicz qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put competition, sophomore Mac Melto came into Friday looking to join his teammate in Eugene, Ore., participating in the 400-meter dash.
However, Melto fell just short of qualification, placing 20th in the race with a time of 47.01.
The time was just .35 seconds from the 12th place finisher, which would have landed Melto in Oregon.
Day three (Saturday) of the Prelims will feature one DePaul Blue Demon as well. Freshman Trevor Kintyhtt will compete in the discus; full coverage will be available at DePaulBlueDemons.com at the end of the day.
