Career-Highs Highlight Volleyball's Sweep Over Chicago State

Myah Reed led the attack for the Blue Demons with 10 kills with an attacking percentage of .304 - both career-highs.
Jameson MacPhie played the best match of her young career as the freshman tallied career-highs in kills (seven), attack percentage (.417) and digs (three).
Fellow freshman Caitlyn Coffey got on the board early and often. The Wauwatosa, Wis. native pitched in seven kills, three digs and three blocks - including a solo block. Coffey's kill and dig totals were personal-bests.
As a team, DePaul attacked at a season-best .333 clip. The Blue Demons only committed 12 errors on 78 chances.
Defensively, DePaul held Chicago State to a season-low .143 attack percentage. Lexi Chanos picked up 12 digs and Kelsey Horvath added five as well to hinder the Cougar attack.
The Blue Demons got off to a fast start to begin the match. A pair of kills by Coffey and two aces from Colleen Smith sparked an 8-1 run out of the gate. Reed added three kills to fend off the Cougars. DePaul took the set, 25-17.
The second set didn't vary much from the first. The Blue Demons used an 11-6 run to close out Chicago State and win the second frame, 25-15. Coffey continued her dominance at the net by adding three kills and a block in the set.
Finally, the third stanza followed suit with the first two as DePaul jumped out to a 10-2 lead out of intermission. Six kills from Reed and four by MacPhie kept the Blue Demons ahead for good. Despite a late 4-1 rally by Chicago State, a slam by Rachel Breault ended the match and gave DePaul its second win of the season.
The Blue Demons are back in action later tonight when they square off with local rival UIC at 5 p.m. in the final match for both teams at the Windy City Invitational.
Notes: With DePaul's sweep, the Blue Demons are now 16-0 against the Cougars all-time… the last time DePaul swept an opponent was Oct. 5, 2013 against Georgetown… the Blue Demons tallied more digs than their opponent for the first time this season with a 41-25 advantage over Chicago State… Kelsey Horvath set career-bests with 15 assists, four digs and two kills… Jameson MacPhie set career-marks in both kills (seven) and attacks (12)… Jasmine King's .375 attack percentage was a season-best.
