Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight in Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The DePaul women's tennis team opened Saturday's slate with a 7-0 victory over Cleveland State to move back to .500 for the spring season.
The match, the Blue Demons' first of two on Saturday, moved DePaul's overall record to 2-2. Cleveland State fell to 0-3.
DePaul jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches (the No. 2 match was left unfinished). At No. 1 doubles, Patricia Fargas and Jasmin Kling beat Victoria Bensimon and Jana Schober, 6-0, and Jarret Fisher and Patricia Lancranjan took care of Mathilde Orange and Aleksandra Golawska, 6-2, in the No. 3 contest.
Playing No. 1 singles, Yuliya Shupenia knocked off Lauren Golick, 6-2, 7-5, and Lancranjan topped Orange in the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-1. Fargas beat Bensimon, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 singles and Kling knocked off Ellen Folkers, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 4 match.
Rebeca Mitrea beat Princess Gbadamosi, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 5 singles and Zaina Sufi picked up a win in the No. 6 match, 6-1, 6-2, over Golawska.
The Blue Demons wrap up the day tonight at 6 p.m. against Case Western Reserve University.
