Blue Demons Close Out 2015 at the Hoosier Open Friday

CHICAGO - The 2015-16 DePaul track and field indoor season rolls on with the Hoosier Open on Friday, Dec. 11, hosted by Indiana. The Bloomington, Ind. meet is scheduled for a start of 2:45 p.m. CT with the women's weight throw.
Trevor Kintyhtt returns to competition after winning the BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week honor. Kintyhtt won the Blue &Gold Invitational's shot put event with a throw of 16.93 meters, a new PR for the junior. He added a second-place finish in the weight throw at 17.95 meters.
Tayler Whittler had a record-breaking day at the Blue & Gold Invitational last week by taking second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.52, besting her own school record. The senior is set to compete in the 300m dash.
The Blue Demon freshmen enjoyed a successful first collegiate meet last week. Ariel Davis tied for first in the 60m hurdles event with a new school record of 8.752, while Emily Eller won the women's shot put after hitting a mark of 14.31 meters. On the men's side, Kyle Hedge took second in the shot put with a throw of 15.53 meters. Fellow freshman Sergio Llanes grabbed third in the mile run by crossing the finish line at 4:36.22. All four freshmen are scheduled to compete at the Hoosier Open.

TEAM NOTES
• The Blue Demons have three student-athletes with times that are in the top-10 nationally. Sebastian Feyersinger is fourth in the nation with a time of 48.53 in the 400m, Scott Arsenault is seventh in the 800m at 1:52.96 and Whittle is 10th in the 60m with a time of 7.52.
• Marquette and DePaul met at the Blue & Gold Invitational last weekend. After one week, the Blue Demons have the slight advantage over the Golden Eagles in BIG EAST event leaders, 9-8.
• DePaul has a BIG EAST best nine event leaders among conference competitors. Marquette is second with eight, followed by Villanova and St. John's with five.
• The DePaul throwers own three of the four top marks in the BIG EAST this year and total nine of a possible 12 top-three performances between the shot put and weight throw. Blue Demons hold the top three spots in both men's and women's shot put.
• As of Thursday, DePaul would have four student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
