NSCAA All-Northeast Region Team
CHICAGO - DePaul senior defender Sarah Gorden is a repeat selection for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region Women's Soccer First Team.
Gorden was joined on the first team by teammate Elise Wyatt, a senior forward who was an NSCAA All-Northeast Region Second Team choice last year.
Blue Demon sophomore midfielder Alexa Ben was named to the 2015 All-Northeast Region Second Team. She was All-Northeast Region third team last year.
Gorden was the leader of a DePaul back line that tied with St. John's for fewest goals allowed (13) in the BIG EAST Conference this past season. In league play, the Blue Demons only gave up seven goals in nine games.
Wyatt led the Blue Demons to a berth in the BIG EAST Championship and set the program's career record for goals with 35.
Her 12 goals this season tied the single-season mark shared by Julianne Sitch (2003) and Abby Reed (2014).
Wyatt's career numbers of 35 goals and 17 assists gave her 87 career points---three shy of all-time leader Sitch (2002-05). Wyatt is tied for third all-time in career assists.
The Blue Demon standout notched a pair of hat tricks this season with each offensive outburst accompanied by the NSCAA Player of the Week award. She finished the season with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points.
Ben was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection along with Gorden and Wyatt. The midfield dynamo from Schaumburg finished the season with four goals and seven assists.
After just two seasons, Ben already ranks second all-time at DePaul in career assists with 18. She needs eight more to equal career leader Sitch (26).
