DePaul Sweeps Marquette, Moves On to Title Match

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- The DePaul women's tennis team advanced to its second consecutive BIG EAST championship match, beating Marquette 4-0 in the BIG EAST semifinals on Saturday.
The No. 35 Blue Demons will play St. John's in tomorrow's final.
DePaul took a 1-0 lead after doubles play, winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. In the No. 1 contest, Patricia Fargas and Jasmin Kling beat Erin Gebes and Ana Pimienta, 8-2, and Yuliya Shupenia and Ana Vladutu took care of Ali Dawson and Aleeza Kanner, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play DePaul won at No. 2, 4 and 6 singles to close out the Golden Eagles. Patricia Lancranjan beat Gebes, 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 2 match, Vladutu topped Dawson by the same score at No. 4 singles and Rebeca Mitrea won in the No. 6 position, 6-2, 6-3, over Vanessa Foltinger.
DePaul will play for its second-straight BIG EAST title tomorrow.
