DePaul Closes Out Action at Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The DePaul track and field team finished up play at the Indiana State Quad on Saturday afternoon, closing out its last meet of the spring before the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships next weekend.
Simone Carr led the DePaul charge by taking the 400-meter dash in 56.86 seconds and Jackie Kasal won the 800-meter run in 2:08.89. Jessica Sanborn notched a third place victory in the 1,500-meter run (4:39.11) and Courtney Tedeschi placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:06.19). DePaul's 4x100-meter relay team of Shayna Nwokenkwo, Taylor Farley, Ayesha Ewing and Tayler Whittler took second (46.80) to wrap up the track events on the women's side.Â
In the men's events, freshman Ivy Dobson won the 100-meter dash in 10.57 seconds and crossed the finish line in 21.32 seconds to win the 200-meter dash. Scott Arsenault placed second in the 800, logging a time of 1:53.23 and Jeremy Lozano won the 1,500-meter run in 3:55.42.Â
In the field events, Matt Babicz won the shot put (19.43 meters) and took second in the discus (50.59m).Â
The Blue Demons finished in third place as a team on both the men's and women's side.Â
The BIG EAST Championships will be May 7-9 in Philadelphia, Pa.
