Dobson Named Most Outstanding Performer in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Eight Blue Demons took home individual BIG EAST Championships and freshman Ivy Dobson was named the Men's Most Outstanding Track Performer on Saturday afternoon at Villanova University.
The Blue Demons placed third as a team on the men's side and were fourth in the women's standings. Villanova won both the men's and women's team championships.
Dobson won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes on Saturday to pace the Blue Demons. In the 100 Dobson crossed the finish line in 10.67 seconds and he captured the 200 in 21.36 seconds. He was also a member of DePaul's conference champion 4x100 men's relay team with teammates Nick Meersman, Sebastian Feyersinger and Jarvis Hill. DePaul won the event in 41.84 seconds.
Feyersinger won his second conference championship in the 400-meter dash, logging a winning time of 47.74 seconds to reach the top of the podium.
Senior Matt Babicz won his second consecutive shot put conference championship, registering a best throw of 19.17 meters. DePaul went 1-2-3 in the shot put, with Anthony Babicz placing second and Trevor Kintyhtt taking third. Kintyhtt also captured the discus BIG EAST title, with a best toss of 52.40 meters.
The Blue Demons also picked up a conference championship in the women's 4x100-meter relay, featuring a team of Shayna Nwokenkwo, Taylor Farley, Ayesha Ewing and Tayler Whittler that crossed the finish line in 45.70 meters. Finally Sarah Moss won the women's discus thanks to her best throw of 46.07 meters.
The BIG EAST Championships wrap up the 2015 spring for the Blue Demons as a team but individuals will participate in next week's North Central Last Chance Meet with national qualifying opportunities on the line.
