EUGENE, Ore. -- DePaul senior thrower Matt Babicz wrapped up his decorated career in Chicago on Wednesday night at the National Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Oregon.
Babicz registered a best throw of 18.74 meters in the shot put event to place 19th overall. Buffalo's Jonathan Jones won the competition with a mark of 20.78 meters.
Babicz will go down as one of the most successful athletes in Blue Demon track and field history. In the last two years alone he won four BIG EAST shot put championships (two indoor, two outdoor) and was a four-time National Qualifier, twice in the indoor shot put and twice in the outdoor. He was a two-time All-American and DePaul's only student-athlete to reach the Outdoor Championships in Eugene this year.
