
Blue Demons Complete Busy Friday at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. - Competing for the first time in two weeks for the women and three weeks for the men, the DePaul cross country teams ran in all four races of the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday, Oct. 14.
Chris Korabik led the Blue Demons in the men's red race by finishing 19th with a time of 24:57.0. Jeremy Lozano had the second-best finish in the race at 25:37.6. Salomon Wright came in right behind in 74th and 25:39.7.
"We had a good meet against some good cross country teams," said assistant coach Derrick Peterson. "We had the chance to race some conference and regional opponents today, and were competitive. We were out-scoring some teams from the BIG EAST, Big Ten, SEC and others."
Paige Skorseth earned a top-100 finish by placing 95th with a time of 22:26.5. Courtney Tedeschi came in shortly behind Skorseth in 128th at 22:45.4. Lauren Sharp grabbed a top-three team finish by crossing the finish line at 22:59.4.
"The women had a tough one today, but still had some strong individual victories in personal best or course personal best," said Peterson. "Paige ran well today, as did Lauren Sharp, highlighting the afternoon on the women's side."
In the men's white race, Sergio Llanes was first across the line for the Blue Demons at 27th with a time of 27:08.9. Joe Atria just missed a top-50 finish in 51st at 27:38.4.
Miranda Rea crossed the in 42nd place at 24:25.9 to be the first Blue Demon to finish in the women's white race. Caroline Kurdej finished with a time of 25:35.2 to claim 78th overall.
"We had some really good individual performances that help our team today," stated Peterson. "It is great to see when our normal is not on, that we have individuals that step up in the race and keep fighting for the team."
The DePaul men placed 12th in the team standings with 298 points out of 27 total teams. On the women's side, DePaul finished 26th in the team standings out of 31 teams with 674 points.
"I'm very excited for where we are right now heading into BIG EAST Championships," said Peterson.
Friday marked the final regular season meet for the Blue Demons in the 2016 season. DePaul now focuses on the BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Oct. 28.
