CHICAGO - The BIG EAST Conference recognized the standout performances by Franny Cerny and Taylor Schissler in DePaul's 1-1, double-overtime tie against BIG EAST champion Georgetown in last Friday's tournament semifinals.
Both Cerny and Schissler were selected to the 2016 BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament Team.
Cerny put DePaul (10-6-3) on top in the 18th minute with a shot from inside the box past the Georgetown goalkeeper. It was a season-high ninth goal for the sophomore forward who is an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection.
Setting up that first strike was All-BIG EAST First Team defender Schissler with a well-struck cross right to the box. That was a season-high seventh assist for the senior which also led the team.
Schissler also headed up a defensive effort that limited No. 7/5 Georgetown to three shots on goal in 110 minutes. The Hoyas advanced to the title game on penalty kicks and topped Marquette 2-0 on Sunday.
