
No. 17/16 DePaul Runs Past Loyola

CHICAGO - The No. 17/16 DePaul women's basketball team used a balanced attack in its 107-46 win at Loyola on Sunday. The Blue Demons end their two-game skid and improve to 7-4 while Loyola fall to 1-9 on the season.
Amarah Coleman and Kelly Campbell led seven Blue Demons in double figures with 16 points each. Jacqui Grant and Brooke Schulte each added 15 and Jessica January finished 12 as all five Blue Demon starters reached double-figures for the first time this year. Tanita Allen and Deja Cage both scored 11.
The Blue Demons dished out 35 assists which is the second-most in school history. January, who played just 22 minutes led DePaul with nine assists while Campbell, who got her second career-start, dished out eight. Lauren Prochaska also had a career-high eight assists. Claire McMahon had four assists and Grant had three. Eight of DePaul's 11 eligible players had at least one assists.
The Blue Demons shot nearly 52 percent from the field and were 16-for-36 from 3-point range. DePaul's 16 3-pointers ties for the third most in school history. Coleman led DePaul's assault from behind the arc with her perfect 4-for-4 effort while Campbell was 4-for-8 from long range. January and Allen both finished with multiple 3-pointers.
DePaul recorded 17 steals in the win while it forced Loyola into 30 turnovers.
The Blue Demons stingy defense did not allow the Ramblers to even attempt a field goal in the opening 1:48 of the contest and led 8-2 when Loyola scored its first points with 7:44 to play in the first.
Coleman, who scored 14 points in the first quarter, gave DePaul its first double-digit lead (14-2) on a 3-pointer with 7:13 on the clock.
DePaul connected on seven triples in the first quarter and took its largest of the quarter (29-6) on an Allen 3-pointer.
The Blue Demons continued its pressure packed and full-court defense into the second quarter. DePaul forced the Ramblers into 20 first-half turnovers.
DePaul went to the locker room up 58-25 behind 16 points from Coleman and 11 from Schulte.
The Blue Demon lead did not dip below 32 points the rest of the way. DePaul's largest lead of the game was 107-45 with 24 seconds to play.
Loyola was led by Kaitlyn Williams's 11 points. Katie Salmon led the Ramblers on the glass with 10 rebounds.
DePaul played its second-straight game without Ashton Millender, who is sidelined with a left leg injury.

- DePaul had 35 assists which is a season-best and ranks second all-time… school record is 29 assists against Cleveland State on Feb. 17, 1992.
- DePaul reached the 100-point mark for the second time this season and 44th time in school history.
- DePaul finished with 16 3-pointers while eight different players had at least one triple.
- DePaul dished out 30-plus assists for the second time… had 32 assists vs. Syracuse
- DePaul shot over 50 percent for the third time this season... also shot over 50 percent against Appalachian State and Syracuse.
- Kelly Campbell (8), Lauren Prochaska (8) and Claire McMahon (4) all had career highs in assists.
- Campbell's 16 points were a career-high... previous best was 12 vs. Northwestern.
- Meri Bennett-Swanson scored six points which were a career-high.
- Jessica January led DePaul in assists for 10th time this season… DePaul has played 11 games.
- DePaul improves to 39-10 all-time against the Ramblers and are 18-6 in games played in Rogers Park
