No. 51 Women's Tennis Sweeps Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The No. 51 DePaul women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend competition with a 7-0 win against the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee on Sunday.
DePaul (5-6) finished its weekend 1-1 after falling the No. 63 Indiana on Saturday. The Blue Demons handed the Panthers (3-5) its third loss in a row.
The Blue Demons started off strong on the doubles end, as Marina Cozac and Jarret Fisher won DePaul's first match at No. 3 6-2 against Dana Shannon and Masha Lobanova. The No. 37 duo of Yuliya Shupenia and Rebeca Mitrea clinched their fifth victory of the dual season at No. 1 against Laurie Clark and Alysa Straub 6-2. Patricia Lancranjan and Zaina Sufi finished off at No. 2 with a 6-2 win against Hayley Marshall and Labina Petrovska 6-2.
In singles, Shupenia defeated Petrovska 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 for her fourth consecutive win over the weekend competition. Cozac took down Marshall at No. 2 6-1, 6-1 as Lancranjan defeated Clark at No. 3 7-5, 6-4. At No. 4, Mitrea bested Straub 6-2, 6-1 as Sufi won against Shannon 6-3, 6-0 and Fisher at No. 6 against Aerielle Pendleton 6-0, 6-0.
The Blue Demons return to Lincoln Park to prepare for two home matches Saturday, March 5 against Illinois State at 2 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 against Iowa at 1 p.m. Central time.
