No. 70 Women's Tennis is BIG EAST Championship Bound

CAYCE, S.C. -- For the third year in a row, the No. 70 DePaul women's tennis team is headed to the Championship match of the BIG EAST Conference Tournament. The top-seeded Blue Demons defeated fourth-seeded Georgetown 4-0 Saturday morning at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center to secure their ticket to the title match.
DePaul (14-7) swept in doubles action to secure the first point. Yuliya Shupenia and Zaina Sufi collected the first win at No. 2 with a 6-3 finish over Sydney Goodson and Sara Swift. Marina Cozac and Jarret Fisher followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 over Sophie Barnard and Casey Marx.
In singles action, Patricia Lancranjan bested Risa Nakagawa 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2. Cozac defeated Swift 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 as Rebeca Mitrea won against Goodson at No. 4 6-1, 6-4.
In the Championship match, DePaul faces second-seed Xavier at 8 a.m. CT. The winner of the match earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
