DePaul to Compete in Four Events at NCAA West Prelims

CHICAGO - The DePaul track and field outdoor season continues after Brian Mada, Jeffrey Sattler and Tayler Whittler were selected to represent the Blue Demons at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Lawrence, Kan. on May 26-28.
Whittler, the BIG EAST champion in the 100m and 200m, is set to sprint in both the 100m and 200m dashes at the NCAA West Prelims. The senior recorded her best time of 11.60 at the Illini Open on May 4 and won the event. That time currently sits tied for 43rd in the region. In the 200m, Whittler has been dominant this season, winning the event each of the five times she has competed. Her qualifying time of 23.87 was set at the Black & Gold Invitational on March 25 and ranks her 47th in the event.
Mada wasted no time in hitting his qualifying mark in the triple jump, reaching 15.25 meters at the 49er Classic on March 19. Since that meet, Mada has surpassed 15 meters twice and won three events. The BIG EAST triple jump champion currently sits 33rd in the West region.
Sattler adds an appearance in the NCAA West Preliminaries to his stellar season that includes four school records (two individual and two relays). The Byron Center, Mich. native qualified for the 800m after setting a program record of 1:49.93 at the ISU Pacesetter Invite on April 23. Sattler ranks 43rd for the event heading into the prelims.
Whittler and Sattler compete on the first day of the regional in the first round of their respective events. The women's 100m dash is set for a 6:30 p.m. CT start, while the men's 800m is scheduled for 8:35 p.m. CT. Mada jumps on the final day at 3 p.m. CT.
