Kintyhtt Earns Weekly Honor; Blue Demons Finish Midweek Meet

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The DePaul track and field team completed its final meet of the outdoor season before the BIG EAST Championships at the Illinois Open Wednesday. Trevor Kintyhtt was also named the BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week as he was competing at the meet.
Kintyhtt earned his first weekly honor for the outdoor season after recording a throw of 54.60 meters in the hammer throw event at the Drake Relays. The junior claimed DePaul's third BIG EAST men's field weekly award of the season and continues to lead the BIG EAST in the hammer throw. Kintyhtt bested that throw with Wednesday's distance of 56.38 meters and took home second place for the event.
Tayler Whittler used the midweek meet to best her own school record in the women's 100m, recording a time of 11.60. The senior won the event and is back into qualifying position for the West Prelims at 48th.
Scott Arsenault beat out two Illinois runners to win the 800m with a time of 1:52.52. It was the second win for Arsenault on the season and his second-best time of the outdoor season.
Simone Carr and Laura Edwards finished 1-2 in the women's 400m. Carr claimed first place at 57.58, while Edwards was milliseconds behind at 57.60.
Sebastian Feyersinger bested six other collegiate runners in the men's 400m and registered a time of 48.62. Feyersinger finished second overall behind former Blue Demon runner Tonderai Tomu.
Sarah Moss won the women's discus throw by hitting a distance of 46.20 meters in her first attempt. The senior thrower won her fourth discus event of the season.
Jarvis Hill placed second overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.15. Hill was the top collegiate finisher by over a second.
Nora Smith earned her first win of the season by finishing first in the 800m with a time of 2:15.28. That time is a new personal record for the senior.
The team of Chaz Bottoms, Hill, Arsenault and Feyersinger claimed the top spot in the men's 4x400 relay by finishing at 3:17.86.
Emily Eller was the top collegiate thrower in the women's shot put after reaching 12.92 meters twice in her six attempts. Eller was followed by Corinne Franz with a throw of 12.63 meters.
Wednesday was the final meet for the Blue Demons before they head to the BIG EAST Championships. The two-day conference meet is set to take place on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14.
