Bracket is Set for the BIG EAST Softball Championship

CHICAGO -- The DePaul softball team will look for its first BIG EAST Tournament title since 2014 when its meets Butler in the first semifinal game of the BIG EAST Championship Friday, May 13.
The No. 1 Blue Demons (27-24, 16-3 BIG EAST) and No. 4 Bulldogs (26-22, 9-7 BIG EAST) are set for a Noon (CT) first pitch at the Ballpark at Rosemont located at 27 Jennie Finch Way, Rosemont, IL 60018.
No. 2 seed Villanova (32-17, 14-6 BIG EAST) and No. 3 seed St. John's (28-19, 12-7 BIG EAST) will battle in the second semifinal game at 3 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at 2 p.m.
All games will be broadcast on FS2 with Bob Brainerd as play-by-play and Dave Bernhard as color analyst.
DePaul enters the tournament as the top seed for the first time since 2014. The Blue Demons boast a six-game win streak following a series sweep at Creighton over the weekend. DePaul clinched the regular season title following a 9-1 six-inning victory in game two of the doubleheader against the Bluejays on Saturday.

Free tickets are available for youth 12 and under and BIG EAST students with a valid school ID. Tickets will be $5 for ages 13 and up.

- No. 1 DePaul vs. No. 4 Butler at 12 p.m.
- No. 2 Villanova vs. No. 3 St. John's at 3 p.m.
Saturday, May 14
- No. 1/No. 4 vs. No. 2/No. 3 at 2 p.m.
Last time against:
BUTLER- DePaul finished the series 2-1 back in April against the Bulldogs. In the final game, Morgan Maize recorded a new career-high 14 strikeouts and earned NFCA Player of the Week honors.
ST. JOHN'S- DePaul finished the series 1-2 against the Red Storm in its sole series loss of the season. Nicole Pihl recorded a .600 batting average, two home runs and three RBI to notch a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
VILLANOVA- DePaul opened its 2016 BIG EAST campaign against the Wildcats with a series sweep at home. DePaul outscored Villanova 25-4 over the course of three games.
