DePaul Faces Temple in Hoophall Miami Invitational

CHICAGO – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the match-ups for the second annual Hoophall Miami Invitational, a premier college basketball showcase held in conjunction with AmericanAirlines Arena in early December. The two-day event will bookend a week of community events in the Miami area.
DePaul is scheduled to face Temple on Saturday, Dec. 10 in a doubleheader that also features Georgetown against La Salle. The first weekend of the event on Dec. 3 is a doubleheader with Illinois facing VCU and Miami against Wofford.
“The Basketball Hall of Fame is thrilled to be returning to Miami to host premier college basketball programs in a world-class facility,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “We look forward to engaging with the Miami community and would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Miami HEAT and AmericanAirlines Arena for their support.”
DePaul and Temple are meeting for just the sixth time and the Dec. 10 game is the first between the two programs since the 2001-02 season. The Blue Demons defeated the Owls, 60-58, in Philadelphia on Dec. 22, 2001.
The Temple game joins DePaul’s other previously announced non-conference games that include the season opener on Sunday, Nov. 13 against Robert Morris as well as the Nov. 17 game against Rutgers as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games. The Blue Demons are also scheduled to play Dec. 22-23 in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic with Missouri State, USC and Wyoming at Orleans Arena.
Northwestern recently announced the date of this season’s game for Saturday, Dec. 3 at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The game is the second of a five-year scheduling agreement between DePaul and Northwestern. The Wildcats knocked off the Blue Demons, 78-70, in overtime at Allstate Arena last season.
