Men's Shot Put Qualifying Round Results
RIO DE JANEIRO - DePaul track and field alum Tim Nedow threw in the men's shot put Thursday morning as part of the 2016 Olympic Games qualifying round and placed 16th in a field of 34 competitors to complete his time in Rio.
Representing Canada, Nedow reached a mark of 20.00 meters at Olympic Stadium, but failed to qualify the final round set for Thursday night. Nedow was .40 meters off of the 12th and final qualifier O'dayne Richards from Jamaica.
Ryan Crouser from the United States had the best mark in qualifying at 21.59 meters.
Nedow, a 2012 graduate, is the first thrower in DePaul program history to compete at the Olympic Games. In his time at DePaul, Nedow was a second team All-American in both the shot put and discus throw and was a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team (2010-12).
The men's shot put final begins Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT.
