CHICAGO - Returning to Wish Field for some good old-fashioned home cooking Wednesday, these Blue Demons turned the occasion into a veritable feast.
Four unanswered goals paved the way for a 4-1 triumph over Loyola in their game first at home in nearly a month after six consecutive matches away from Lincoln Park.
DePaul (3-4-2) heads into its BIG EAST Conference opener on Sunday having found the back of the net seven times in the last two matches.
Loyola (1-7-2) got on the board first with a shot into the lower left of the Blue Demon net by Katie Grall in the 14th minute.
Coach Erin Chastain's side tied it in the 36th minute on Jessie Schmidt's first goal of the season off an assist by Taylor Schissler.
Then came a second-half barrage of three goals in 16 minutes. Franny Cerny got it started, dribbling through the Rambler defense and launching a shot into the lower left of Loyola's net in the 61st minute.
Alexa Ben notched her second goal of the season in the 74th minute, taking a pass from Cerny and depositing it into the lower far post.
Just two minutes later, Abby Reed connected on a long pass from Schissler and fired a shot into the center of the Rambler net from close range.
DePaul returns to Wish Field on Sunday for the match against Xavier that will be broadcast by the BIG EAST Digital Network.
