
Women's Tennis Completes Weekend with Win Over Harvard

CHICAGO - The DePaul women's tennis team finished its first weekend of dual competition with a 5-2 win over Harvard on Sunday evening at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
The result puts DePaul 2-0 and Harvard 0-2 on the season.
The Blue Demons clinched the doubles point with wins in two spots. Keisha Clousing and Aspasia Avgeri led the way at No. 1 with a 6-1 finish over Erica Oosterhout and June Lee. Yuliya Shupenia and Ana Vladutu defeated Jenna Friedel and Irene Lu 6-4 at No. 2.
It was spots three through six in singles action that etched the final four points for DePaul's win.
At No. 5, Cozac Natasha Gonzalez 7-5, 6-2.
Vladutu followed at No. 6 with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win over Nika Besker.
Lancranjan defeated Ringblom in a close 7-6, 6-2 result at No. 3.
Avgeri notched her ninth overall win at No. 4 with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 mark over Lu.
Yesterday, DePaul swept Valparaiso 7-0.
Next up, DePaul heads to Gainesville, Fla. for the ITA Indoor Qualifier Jan. 28-29. The Blue Demons face No. 1 Florida on Saturday at 1 p.m. and will play FIU or USF on Sunday at 11 a.m.
