Blue Demons Defeat Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The DePaul women's tennis team got back to its winning ways Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over Purdue at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
The win snapped a four-match losing streak for DePaul (3-4) and handed Purdue (5-3) its third loss in a row.
The Blue Demons were led by the senior duo of Yuliya Shupenia and Ana Vladutu. The two won their singles matches and paired in doubles for a win.
DePaul clinched the doubles point courtesy of its No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Keisha Clousing and Patricia Lancranjan recorded a win at No. 2 first with a 6-2 mark over Natalie Davila and Andjela Djokovic. Shupenia and Vladutu followed with a 6-4 decision over Rafaella Baquerizo and Nicole Robinson.
No. 95 ranked Shupenia etched the first singles point at the top spot with a 6-0, 6-2 score over Robinson.
Clousing played at No. 3 for the first time this season and defeated Djokovic 6-1, 6-4.
Valdutu secured DePaul's fourth point at No. 5 with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 win over Deborah Suarez.
The Blue Demons return to action next weekend at home for two matches. DePaul welcomes Cleveland State on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. and St. John's on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
DePaul's match against the Red Storm will be its first against a BIG EAST team this season.
