
Women's Tennis Falls to Washington St.

MINNEAPOLIS - The DePaul women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Washington St. Saturday afternoon on the courts of the Baseline Tennis Center in day one of the Courtside Classic hosted by Minnesota.
Ana Vladutu and Patricia Lancranjan proved to be the Blue Demons' strong suits, clinching their singles and doubles matches to give the team its three points.
In doubles action, Vladutu teamed with Yuliya Shupenia at No. 2 to defeat Victoria Matejevic and Melisa Ates 6-3. Lancranjan and Florence Abbott followed with a 7-5 victory over Aneta Miksovska and Lejla Colic at No. 3.
In singles play, Vladutu defeated Colic in a 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 battle at No. 5 as Lancranjan boasted a 6-2, 6-2 finish over Matejevic at No. 3 to record the squad's final points of the match.
DePaul (2-3) will play in the consolation final against Minnesota (2-2) on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Washington St. (6-1) moves on to the championship round to take on undefeated Dartmouth (4-0) at noon.
