
Minnesota Defeats Women's Tennis

MINNEAPOLIS - The DePaul women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Minnesota on the final day of the Courtside Classic Sunday afternoon at the Baseline Tennis Center.
DePaul (2-4) was led by Patricia Lancranjan and Aspasia Avgeri in singles and Yuliya Shupenia and Ana Vladutu in doubles.
The Gopehers (3-2) finished third in the Classic with the victory.
Shupenia and Vladutu were the lone doubles duo to notch a win. They defeated Mehvish Safdar and Caitlyn Merzbacher 6-1 at No. 1.
In singles, Lancranjan won her second match of the weekend with a 0-6, 7-5, 6-1 decision over Barbara Manacera at No. 3.
Avgeri defeated Annemarie Emme 6-3 6-3 at No. 4.
The Blue Demons return to the competition next weekend in West Lafayette, Ind. to take on Purdue at 11 a.m. CT.
