Softball Falls to Sacramento State

LOS ANGELES - DePaul softball fell 9-2 to Sacramento State in its second game at the Loyola Marymount Tournament on Friday evening.
DePaul (12-9) was held to four hits in the game. Haydn Christensen finished with a run and two RBI.
Missy Zoch suffered the loss in the circle. She pitched six innings, struck out seven, walked two and allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits.
Taylor Tessier earned the win for the Hornets (7-12-1).
The Blue Demons two runs came in the top of the first courtesy of a Haydn Christensen two-run homer. With one out and Dylan Christensen on second, Haydn Christensen connected with the pitch to clock her fourth homer of the season.
After a scoreless second inning, Sacramento State got on board in the bottom of the third with two runs.
DePaul loaded the bases in the top of the fifth with two outs, but a fly out to right field by Nicole Pihl ended the Blue Demons chance to advance the runners on base home.
The Hornets tacked on two runs in the fifth to put them in the lead for good. Zamari Hinton led off with a double and then scored off a home run from Suzy Brookshire.
Sacramento State tallied its final five runs in the sixth to etch the 9-2 finish. Jessica Ravetti led off the inning with a home run. The Hornets next two batters got out, but they loaded the bases for Brookshire to notch a single up the middle to score two runners. The final two runs were scored right after off a Morgan Spieth double.
DePaul returns to Smith Field on Saturday for two games. The Blue Demons take on #9/10 Oklahoma at 1 p.m. and Loyola Marymount at 5 p.m. CT.
