
Women's Tennis Defeats Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. - The DePaul women's tennis team began their weekend slate with a 6-1 victory over Bradley on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's win is the second in a row for the Blue Demons.
DePaul (6-6, 0-1) swept in doubles action.
The tandem of Yuliya Shupenia and Ana Vladutu led the way with a 6-1 win at No.1 against Natalia Barbery and Ashley Thai. Keisha Clousing and Patricia Lancranjan followed at No. 2 with a 6-4 decision over Ariel Dechter and Aimee Manfredo. Florence Abbott and Aspasia Avgeri defeated Alexa Brandt and Malini Wijesinghe 6-4.
The Blue Demons won all but one of its singles rounds.
Shupenia bested Dechter 7-6, 7-1 at No. 1. Lancranjan won against Alejandra Lasa at No. 2 6-1, 6-1. Clousing faced Barbery at No. 3 and won 6-1, 6-1. Avgeri defeated Manfredo at No. 5 6-2, 6-4 as Abbott followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 over Wijesinghe. Vladutu fell at No. 4 , 3-6, 7-5, 5-10 to Brandt.
The Blue Demons are back on the court tomorrow in Danville, Ill. to face Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. CT.
