Women's Tennis Defeats Xavier 4-3

CHICAGO - The DePaul women's tennis team won its fifth match in a row after defeating Xavier 4-3 on the courts of Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Saturday evening.
DePaul (8-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) came back to win the match in singles action after Xavier (8-8, 3-1 BIG EAST) clinched the doubles point.
The Musketeers claimed all three doubles spots.
In singles, Ana Vladutu tied the match 1-1 with a win at No. 4 over Rachael Reichenback 6-1, 6-3.
Florence Abbott followed with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Zoe Manion at No. 6.
Xavier etched the next point at No. 2, but Aspasia Avgeri notched her 12th singles victory of the dual season at No. 5 against Sophia Abelson 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
No. 123 Yuliya Shupenia clinched the fourth point at the top spot with a three-set win over Sydney Liggins 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
With the victory, the Blue Demons snapped Xavier's four-match win streak.
Up next, DePaul heads out east nest weekend to challenge Villanova on Friday, April 7 at 11 a.m. and Georgetown on Sunday, April 8 at 1 p.m. CT.
