Four Blue Demons Earn All-BIG EAST Team Honors

Honorees are Cerny, Eriksson, Mink and Walker
CHICAGO -Â Ahead of the 2018 BIG EAST Championship tournament beginning Sunday, the Conference released its annual awards on Saturday, tabbing DePaul's captain Franny Cerny to the All-BIG EAST First Team, center back Adrian Walker to the All-BIG EAST Second Team and both goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson and midfielder Ellie Mink to the All-Freshman Team.
Cerny has been a mainstay of the soccer program. The 2018 Senior CLASS Candidate currently leads her team in goals with eight, has notched three assists and holds 19 points on the season. She was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week in September, also making the Honor Roll the same month. This is the second consecutive year that Cerny has made the First Team.
Walker is an integral part of DePaul's back line that has recorded nine shutouts this season. She has recorded over 1600 minutes and started all 18 matches of her junior year campaign. The Lake Forest, Ill. native was named to the 206-17 All-BIG EAST Academic Team as well.
Eriksson has tallied nine shutouts in her freshman campaign. Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, she posts a goals against average of 0.86 to go along with a save percentage of 0.795. She was tabbed to the BIG EAST Honor Roll at the end of August and was named Freshman of the Week in September following two straight shutouts.
Ellie Mink has played in a total of 15 matches this season, starting in 11 of those contests. The freshman midfielder has recorded over 1100 minutes and put up six total shots on goal.
All-BIG EAST Teams and major awards are selected by a vote of the league's head coaches who are not allowed to vote for their own players. All-BIG EAST First and Second Teams are comprised of three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards, one goalkeeper and one at-large selection per team. The All-Freshman Team is 11 at-large selections.
Georgetown led the way in the awards, with Caitlin Farrell earning Offensive Player of the Year, Meaghan Nally earning Defensive Player of the Year, Arielle Schechtman earning Goalkeeper of the Year and their staff taking home the annual award as well.
