Cerny Receives All-East Region Honors

CHICAGO – The 2018 All-Region selections from the United Soccer Coaches were released this week, naming senior Franny Cerny to the All-East Region honors as a Second Team selection.
Cerny was a staple for the Blue Demons throughout her four-year career. She led DePaul in scoring both in 2017 (a BIG EAST-best of 10) and in 2018 (8) while dishing out three assists and notching two game-winning goals. The Berkeley, Calif. native is one of the most decorated athletes in program history as she sits second in Total Goals in DePaul Women's Soccer History with 33, as well as fifth in Total Assists (15) and third in Total Points (81).
Since joining the DePaul women's soccer team in 2015, Cerny has racked up multiple BIG EAST honors. In 2015, Cerny was selected to the All-Freshman team while being named the Conference's Freshman of the Year. This selection is Cerny's third recognition by the United Soccer Coaches as she received a Third Team All-Northeast Region nod in 2016 and was named to the Second Team All-Midwest Region in 2017. The forward earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second and Tournament Teams in 2016 before finding herself on the All-BIG EAST First Team in 2017 and 2018, her junior and senior years.
In her senior campaign, Cerny was named to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team, earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on after scoring two goals in the Blue Demons 3-0 shutout of Seton Hall on Sept. 24 and was a Candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.
