CHICAGO - The Blue Demons will take a trip to the country's capital this weekend to continue BIG EAST play against conference foe Georgetown on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. CT on Shaw Field.
A Look at the Blue Demons (4-4-0)
Following a big win over conference rival Providence, 1-0, DePaul dropped their home match on Tuesday to Loyola-Chicago, 0-1, at Wish Field. The Blue Demons now sit at .500 on the season with a 4-4-0 record. Playing a majority of their penultimate non-conference match on the defensive end, the Blue Demons were outshot 13-4, lost the corner battle 8-1 and put up one shot on goal. Sophomore keeper Drew Nuelle made four saves in between the post. The Ramblers' (3-3) golden goal came in the 93rd minute off a well-executed corner kick from Fabian Lifka that Grant Stoneman got a piece of and headed into the net, just past Nuelle's hands. Loyola put up five SOG while keeper Josh Lagudah made just one save on Tuesday for his third shutout of the season.
Scouting the Hoyas (4-2-1)
Georgetown most recently shutout No. 9 Duke, 1-0, on Tuesday, improving their overall record to 4-2-1. Before that non-conference victory, the Hoyas fell to Xavier in their first BIG EAST Conference match, 3-2. At the helm of the program for the 13th season, Brian Wiese led his squad to the 2017 BIG EAST Championship and the NCAA tournament. In the 2018 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, Georgetown was picked to win the league, earning 7 first place votes and receiving 79 points. Senior defender Brendan McDonough and sophomore forward/midfielder Derek Dodson were selected to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team. Dodson leads the team in scoring with eight points and four goals so far this season. Freshman Giannis Nikopolidis has started six of the Hoyas' seven games, recording three shutouts, tallying 24 saves with a .800 save percentage.

The Blue Demons dropped their BIG EAST home opener to the Hoyas, 2-1, after claiming an early 1-0 lead in just the 14th minute. Georgetown would tie it in the 42nd minute before breaking the tie in the 88th minute to seal the victory.
