
Non-Conference Schedule Set for Men's Basketball

Blue Demons host nine non-conference games at Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO – DePaul will host nine games at Wintrust Arena in the non-conference portion of the schedule while taking trips to Northwestern and Notre Dame. The 2018-19 season opens on Wednesday, Nov. 7 against Bethune-Cookman at Wintrust Arena.
Following an exhibition game on Nov. 1 against Rockhurst (Mo.), the Blue Demons open the regular season with three straight home games. Bethune-Cookman visits on Nov. 7 followed by Morgan State on Nov. 12 and Penn State on Nov. 15. The Blue Demons and Nittany Lions meet in the Gavitt Tipoff Games between the BIG EAST and Big Ten Conferences.
Thanksgiving weekend takes DePaul to Notre Dame on Saturday, Nov. 24 before a Nov. 28 game at Wintrust Arena against Cleveland State. The Blue Demons and Irish meet for the 106th time after Notre Dame defeated DePaul in the Wintust Arena opener to start last season.
The month of December features five of six games in the South Loop starting Dec. 3 against Florida A&M. DePaul takes the trip to Chicago's north suburbs for a Dec. 8 game at Northwestern in the final non-conference road game of the regular season. The Northwestern matchup opens a week of local opponents as Chicago State (Dec. 12) and UIC (Dec. 14) make their first trips to Wintrust Arena.
Incarnate Word travels to Chicago on Dec. 19 and the non-conference slate concludes on Saturday, Dec. 22 against Boston College.

All remaining home games played at McGrath-Phillips Arena on the Lincoln Park campus are part of the McGrath-Phillips Arena season ticket package for $99.
- BIG EAST packs and mini plans go on sale Thursday, Sept. 20. Group tickets for parties of 15 or more go on sale Monday, September 24. Single-game tickets for individual basketball events go on sale to the general public on Monday, October 1 at 10 a.m.

Exhibition Game: Rockhurst – Thursday, Nov. 1 – Wintrust Arena
- Rockhurst University is a NCAA Division II program located in Kansas City, Mo. The Hawks are coached by Drew Diener. Diener enters his fourth season at Rockhurst and was a member of Dave Leitao's staff as a graduate assistant at DePaul during the 2004-05 season.
- Diener is also a cousin of DePaul freshman guard John Diener.
- The Hawks went 14-14 overall last season and 7-11 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
- The meeting is the second exhibition game between the programs. DePaul defeated Rockhurst, 79-53, on Nov. 4, 2016.

- First meeting between the programs.
- Bethune Cookman is located in Daytona Beach, Fla., and a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
- The Wildcats went 18-14 overall and 11-4 in the MEAC last season.
Game Two: Morgan State – Monday, Nov. 12 – Wintrust Arena
- Morgan State won the only previous meeting during the 2008-09 season. The Bears posted a 79-75 decision at Allstate Arena on Dec. 10, 2008.
- Morgan State is located in Baltimore, Md., and a member of the MEAC.
- The Bears went 13-19 overall and 7-9 in conference play last season.
- Former DePaul assistant coach Brian Ellerbe is assistant coach for the Bears.
Game Three: Penn State – Thursday, Nov. 15 – Wintrust Arena
- The contest is part of the annual Gavitt Tipoff Games between programs from the BIG EAST and Big Ten Conferences.
- DePaul has won six of seven meetings against the Nittany Lions.
- This season's game is the second meeting between the schools in the Gavitt Tipoff Games. Penn State held off DePaul, 68-62, in November 2015 in the first edition of the conference series.
- Penn State won the NIT last season and posted an overall record of 26-13. In Big Ten play, the Nittany Lions recorded a record of 9-9.
Game Four: Notre Dame – Saturday, Nov. 24 – Notre Dame, Ind.
- Notre Dame leads the series, 61-44, with this season's matchup marking the 106th meeting between the programs.
- The Irish posted a 72-58 decision in the first game at Wintrust Arena in November 2017.
- The Irish went 21-15 overall and 8-10 in the ACC in 2017-18. Notre Dame lost to Penn State in the second round of the NIT.
- The game is the second of a two-year scheduling agreement that started last season.
Game Five: Cleveland State – Wednesday, Nov. 28 – Wintrust Arena
- Cleveland State won the only meeting between the two sides during the 1985-86 season. The Vikings recorded a 90-75 victory on Jan. 15, 1986 at the Rosemont Horizon.
- Cleveland State went 12-22 overall last season and 6-12 in Horizon League games.
- Former DePaul director of basketball operations Bryan Tibaldi is an assistant coach with the Vikings. Tibaldi was on Dave Leitao's staff at DePaul from 2015-17.
Game Six: Florida A&M – Monday, Dec. 3 – Wintrust Arena
- First meeting between the programs.
- Florida A&M is located in Tallahassee, Fla., and is a member of the MEAC.
- The Rattlers went 9-25 overall last season and 7-9 in conference games.
Game Seven: Northwestern – Saturday, Dec. 8 – Evanston, Ill.
- DePaul leads the series by a 20-13 margin over Northwestern.
- The Wildcats have won three straight in the series including a 62-60 decision at Wintrust Arena last December.
- Northwestern went 15-17 overall and 6-12 in the Big Ten last season.
- This season's meeting is the fourth in a five-year scheduling agreement between the programs.
Game Eight: Chicago State – Wednesday, Dec. 12 – Wintrust Arena
- DePaul has won all 15 meetings against Chicago State.
- The Cougars went 3-29 overall and 1-13 in Western Athletic Conference games last season.
- Head coach Lance Irvin was an assistant at DePaul for Joey Meyer from 1992-97.
Game Nine: UIC – Friday, Dec. 14 – Wintrust Arena
- DePaul and UIC meet for the ninth time with the Blue Demons holding a 6-2 advantage in the series.
- The 2018 meeting marks the fifth straight year the two sides have played.
- DePaul knocked off the Flames at the UIC Pavilion last December by a score of 65-55.
- The Flames went 20-16 overall last season and finished 12-6 in Horizon League games.
Game 10: Incarnate Word – Wednesday, Dec. 19 – Wintrust Arena
- First meeting between the programs.
- Incarnate Word is located in San Antonio, Texas and a member of the Southland Conference.
- The Cardinals went 7-21 overall and 2-16 in Southland Conference games last season.
- Head coach Carson Cunningham was an instructor at DePaul from 2006-13 in the history department and the cinema and digital media program.
Game 11: Boston College – Saturday, Dec. 22 – Wintrust Arena
- Two two sides have split two all-time meetings with the last game as an 82-75 win for the Eagles on March 14, 1982 in Dallas at the NCAA Tournament.
- Boston College went 19-16 overall and 7-11 in the ACC last season.
- First game in a two-year scheduling agreement between the programs with DePaul making a visit to Chestnut Hill in 2019-20 season.
