Grays Comes Up Big in Crunch Time for 69-64 Win

Grays, Stonewall, Campbell lead comeback win over Georgetown Friday night.
WASHINGTON – Mart'e Grays saved her biggest shots for the biggest moments on Friday night.
The senior forward scored twice in the final minute to propel DePaul past Georgetown 69-64 , overcoming a 13-point halftime deficit.
Grays' basket with 1:01 left in the game put her team up 65-64 and she followed with another clutch make with :18 left. Kelly Campbell clinched it with a pair of free throws.
Grays led the Blue Demons (11-5, 2-2) with 22 points after scoring just two in the first half because of foul trouble. Chante Stonewall came through with 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals while Campbell contributed 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
A Campbell basket and a Millender three put the Blue Demons up 59-55 early in the fourth quarter. It was 59-58 with 4:12 left in the game.
Back and forth it went with Campbell and Grays hitting big shots. After Campbell layup put her team ahead 63-61, Dionna White scored on a three-point play for the Hoyas with 2:16 to go.
Grays hit yet another clutch shot as DePaul took a 65-64 lead with 1:01 left.
Tanita Allen's three-point play and a Stonewall fast-break layup at the outset of the third quarter cut a 13-point halftime deficit down to eight. Georgetown (8-8, 2-3) went back up by 10 with 6:19 to go in the quarter.
With its offense coming to life, DePaul closed out the quarter strong. A Grays free throw, Ashton Millender's first three of the game and Grays scoring just before the buzzer left it tied 52-52 heading into the final 10 minutes.
The Blue Demons outscored their host 29-16 in the third quarter---more points than they had scored in the first half.
DePaul got off to a slow start, making just one of its first 11 shots in falling behind 7-2 five minutes after the opening tip.
It was 9-2 when three-pointers by Campbell and Sonya Morris sent the Blue Demons on an 8-0 run. Georgetown answered back to lead 17-10 when Chante Stonewall hit a three from beyond NBA range to bring her team within 17-13 after the first quarter.
The Hoyas began the second quarter with eight unanswered points in building a 25-13 lead at the 6:09 mark. Campbell's foul shot, a Rebekah Dahlman three and Dee Bekelja's jumper cut the deficit to six.
An 11-1 Georgetown surge left the Blue Demons trailing 36-20 when Stonewall connected from deep. That left her team trailing 36-23 at halftime.
The Hoyas outscored DePaul 19-10 in the second quarter. The Blue Demons were 6-of-28 from the field and 4-of-19 from distance in the first half. The 23 points were the fewest DePaul has scored in the first half this season.
The Blue Demons are back in action Sunday at Villanova.
