Midseason transfer forward adds to 2019-20 roster
CHICAGO – DePaul head coach Dave Leitao announced today that Carte'Are Gordon has transferred to DePaul from Saint Louis. Gordon enrolled at DePaul for Winter quarter and will be eligible to compete following the conclusion of the 2019 Autumn academic quarter in November.
"Carte'Are was a top 75 recruit out of high school and has won championships at many levels including two state titles and a gold medal with USA Basketball," said Leitao. "He's an inside-out player with great hands that provides us a high-level scorer and defender under the basket next season."
The St. Louis native appeared in 13 games for the Billikens this season with nine starts. He averaged 8.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 24.5 minutes per game. He recorded seven games in double-figures that included a season-high 14 points in games against Seton Hall and Florida State.
The 6-9 power forward was a consensus four-star recruit and ranked No. 75 in the ESPN Top 100 rankings for 2018 coming out of Webster Groves High School in St. Louis. Gordon led the Statesmen to back-to-back state titles and averaged 18.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as a senior. Gordon has also played with USA Basketball as a member of the United States' U-17 championship team.
Gordon joins a highly-regarded recruiting class headed to Lincoln Park next season along with Arkansas transfer Darious Hall who is currently sitting out the 2018-19 season under NCAA transfer guidelines. The recruiting class of Chicago's Markese Jacobs, Oscar Lopez from California and Michigan's Romeo Weems is currently ranked No. 22 at ESPN.com, No. 24 by 247Sports.com and No. 28 in the nation by Rivals.com.
