CHICAGO - The Blue Demons, currently 10-8 (2-4 BIG EAST) on the season, are set for a weekend of matches on the road. The team travels to Georgetown Friday for a 4 p.m. match and Villanova Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest.Â
FROM COACH ZIDEK
"The team is excited to get back on the road where we started our season and had much early success," said head coach Marie Zidek. "They have fed off of the Providence victory and our practices have been at an all-time high as far as competitiveness and execution. October is all about the skill catching up consistently to the system and also about certain players being able to assert themselves in those matches. We have both happening and it will be exciting to see if we can bring that to both of our matches this weekend. Both opponents are great opportunities to push towards our next level of growth, which is being able to win tight conference matches. This year is proving to be very competitive in the BIG EAST so every match matters."
SERIES AGAINST GEORGETOWN
DePaul sits in a close 10-14 deficit in the series against the Hoyas and lost the last match between the two in 2018.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown is currently 11-9 (1-5 BIG EAST) on the season. The Hoyas started their season sweeping opponents in two of four tournaments. Georgetown's lone conference win was a contest against Providence to kick off league play. The Hoyas have fallen to Creighton, Butler, Xavier, Seton Hall and St. John's.
SERIES AGAINST VILLANOVA
DePaul has won two of 21 contests against Villanova and has dropped the last five with the most recent in 2018.Â
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Villanova is 13-5 (4-2 BIG EAST) on the season. The Wildcats have only dropped to two league opponents in Creighton and St. John's. The Wildcats have topped Providence, Xavier, Butler and Seton Hall.Â
