CHICAGO, Ill. - The Blue Demons are now 10-9 (2-5 BIG EAST) after falling in five sets 2-3 (23-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-23, 9-15) at Georgetown Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET ONE » DePaul was the first to strike on a kill from Emma Price. The Blue Demons took a 4-1 lead and stayed ahead until a 6-6 knot in the score. Georgetown took the lead and expanded it on a 4-0 run. DePaul called the first timeout trailing 12-16. DePaul remained behind until the score knotted at 19-19. With Georgetown leading 23-21, DePaul went on a 2-0 run, forcing a late Hoyas timeout. Georgetown went on to take the set 25-23.

SET TWO » A back and forth battle ensued for most of the set. DePaul eventually went on a 6-0 scoring run featuring an Avarie Evans-Allen kill and back-to-back kills from Brittany Maxwell to lead 14-11 and urge a Hoyas timeout. Out of the stoppage, Maxwell threw down another kill to grow the lead. DePaul continued to grow its lead and took the second set 25-17.

SET THREE » Georgetown jumped to a 7-1 lead and remained ahead for the entire set until a 4-0 scoring run knotted the score 23-23. Georgetown took the third set 26-24.

SET FOUR » It was once again back and forth until DePaul went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead. The Hoyas would narrow out the difference a couple times before DePaul went on a 3-0 run to jump into a 14-9 advantage for a Georgetown timeout. The score knotted at 16-16 and eventually a Bailey Nelson kill gave DePaul the fourth set 25-23.

SET FIVE » Points swapped between teams until Georgetown escaped on a 3-0 run. DePaul called a timeout trailing 5-8 and struggled to catch up out of the stoppage. Georgetown took the final set 15-9.
