Wassenaar Wins His Way into Singles Main Draw

Joins teammate Spanjaard at ITA Midwest Regional Championship
COLUMBUS, Ohio. – DePaul's big winner on Friday was Luuk Wassenaar.
The junior from the Netherlands advanced into the ITA Midwest Regional Championship singles main draw after topping Green Bay's Satchel Benn 6-1, 6-4 in the final round of singles qualifying.
That enables Wassenaar to join teammate and fellow Dutch countryman Boris Spanjaard in Saturday's main draw.
Wassenaar will open up against Western Michigan's Jannik Opitz while Spanjaard will face Justin Boulais of Ohio State on his home court.
A pair of Blue Demon doubles team won their inaugural matches on Friday but bowed out of the championship bracket in the second round.
Tripp Tuff and Tamas Zador defeated Matt Gamble and Paul Gota 8-6 before dropping an 8-3 decision to the Marquette duo of Luke Smrek and Luis Heredia.
Spanjaard and Christopher Casati knocked off the Western Michigan tandem of Rodrigo Crespo and Arjan Honnappa 8-3. They came up short in the second round 8-5 against the Buckeyes' Robert Cash and John McNally.
