Men’s Tennis Overpowers Villanova to Remain Perfect in BIG EAST

Blue Demons go 2-0 in league road trip
VILLANOVA, Pa. – DePaul men's tennis (7-12, 4-0 BIG EAST) kept its conference dominance rolling Saturday, defeating Villanova (5-13, 0-3 BIG EAST) 6-1 at the Villanova Tennis Complex to remain a perfect 4-0 in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons have now won four of their last five matches after a difficult 3-11 start to the season.
The Blue Demons secured the doubles point with a pair of convincing wins. Giles and Moser set the tone at No. 2 with a 6-2 decision, while Medica and Pardo Cano followed at No. 1, closing out a 6-4 win to clinch the point despite Villanova taking the third court.
Singles followed a similar script. At No. 2, Torres Almeida delivered a dominant 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win, and Pardo Cano matched that at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Moser added a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 4 before Medica put the match away at No. 1, handling Gordon in straight sets to push the lead to 5-0.
Villanova got on the board when Kruep edged Giles in three sets at No. 6, but Leitner capped the afternoon with one of the day's most compelling performances, surviving an 11-point first-set tiebreak before grinding out a 6-7(11), 7-6(4), 10-6 victory at No. 3 to close it out.
