DePaul Drops Close Contest at Villanova

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Blue Demons are now 10-10 (2-6 BIG EAST) after falling in four sets 1-3 (14-25, 25-18, 22-25, 24-26) at Villanova Saturday evening.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE » Villanova took off, holding DePaul to 14 points and taking the first set 25-14.
SET TWO » DePaul took a lead that quickly doubled to 10-5 and Villanova eventually came within one at 12-13. The Wildcats called a timeout with the Blue Demons leading 18-12. A monsterous kill from Emma Price brought the Blue Demons to set point and a kill from Brittany Maxwell would give DePaul the second set 25-18.
SET THREE » Villanova jumped out to the lead and DePaul quickly caught up to reach within one at 4-5. The Blue Demons called a timeout trailing 9-14 but were able to get back in it at 14-15, urging a Villanova timeout. Out of the stoppage, the Blue Demons knotted the score 17-17 and took the lead on a kill from Donna Brown. Villanova would take back the lead and the difference remained narrow but the Wildcats won the third set 25-22.Â
SET FOUR » A kill from Maxwell put DePaul on the board first and burst into a 6-3 lead with Ella Siddall on the serve. DePaul maintained the lead for most of the set. Villanova called a timeout with DePaul leading 18-13. Villanova was able to catch up at 22-22 and the score knotted again at 24-24. Villanova took the final set 26-24.
