CHICAGO, Ill. - The Blue Demons are now 11-10 (3-6 BIG EAST) after topping Seton Hall in four sets 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21) Friday morning in New Jersey.

"What a statement match for this group," said head coach Marie Zidek. "They continue to push and find ways to improve and to have such a team performance like this is proof we are progressing well. Britt had a great match as did Elana in the back row for us. Our serving also allowed us to dial in. I am so proud of this group."

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET ONE » DePaul jumped out to a 4-0 lead and maintained a strong advantage. Seton Hall called the first timeout being down 12-7. Out of the stoppage, DePaul went on a 6-0 run to grow the difference to 11 points. The Blue Demons reached set point on a kill from Elana Brueggemann and won the first set 25-17 on an Ella Siddall service ace.

SET TWO » A kill from Brittany Maxwell put DePaul on the board first. The score knotted at 2-2 before Seton Hall doubled DePaul's score at 6-3. The Pirates expanded their lead and DePaul took a timeout being down by six points. After falling behind by more than ten points, DePaul made it a single-point difference during crucial moments, urging a Seton Hall timeout. Regardless of the effort from the Blue Demons, the Pirates took the second set 25-21.

SET THREE » It was a back and forth battle until DePaul took a four point lead at 11-7, bringing the first Seton Hall timeout. From there, DePaul continued to dominate and led by as much as eight points. The Blue Demons reached set point on an error from the Pirates. DePaul went on to take the third set 25-17.

SET FOUR » The difference remained narrow until DePaul took a 16-12 lead, urging a Pirates timeout. From there, the Blue Demons continued to dominate and took the final set 25-21 on a Seton Hall error.
