Blue Demons begin play Friday in the six-team tournament at Western Michigan
CHICAGO – New coach Marisa Arce and her Blue Demon tennis team are ready for another successful weekend after a good start to the 2019-20 season three weeks ago.
DePaul will open play Friday at the WMU Fall Invite in Kalamazoo, Mich. with the six-team field also featuring Milwaukee, UIC, Butler, Iowa and tournament host Western Michigan.
Marija Jovicic, Aspasia Avgeri and freshmen Layo Adelakun and Yuliya Kizelbasheva started fast going 2-1 in singles at the Purdue Invite. Lenka Antonijevic also came home with two wins to balance a pair of setbacks.
In doubles, the Jovicic/Maddie Yergler team has started out 2-1 to match the positive beginning of Avgeri/Alina Kuzmenkova.
So far this season, the Blue Demons have racked up a cumulative 13-9 record in singles matches and 6-4 in doubles.
